
First National Online Conference of Emigrant Teachers
On June 28, 2020, at the initiative and organization of Kutaisi Public School N17, with the support and financial support of St. Antimos Iveriel Sunday School in Barcelona, the First National Online Conference of Emigrant Teachers was held. The conference was attended by 64 teachers from different continents of our planet. The conference opened at 16:00 Georgian time with a video recording by Nicholas Fangani, a Georgian student living in Barcelona. Alyona Chkhotua, Head of the Compatriots and Diaspora Organizations Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conference was attended by Tamar Jakeli, Education Expert of the New School Model Project of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia, Niko Silagadze, Expert of the National Curriculum and Resource Development Division the New School Model Expert. Mr. Varden Nikabadze spoke about the challenges of online teaching, Lado Abkhazava, and Manana Kapetivadze, winners of the National Teacher Award, introduced their activities to their colleagues working abroad. All participants at the conference presented interesting topics and presentations:

8. Turkey – Nanuli Kacharava – “Kartvelological centers in Turkey”
9. Netherlands – Tika Svanidze “Virtual Classroom Concept in Georgia and Georgian Students in Emigration”
10. Georgia – Ia Jgharkava “Lessons Without Borders and the Diaspora Alliance Fund for Georgia”
11. Poland – Lana Burkadze “Language as an Identity for Children Abroad”
12. Greece – Darejan Gambashidze – “Sunday schools are oases of the Georgian soul in emigration”
Niko Silagadze, an expert from the National Curriculum and Resource Development Division, despite the length of the conference, listened very carefully to the teachers, who promised to help and offered three proposals: 1) Create a common platform 2) Separate the expert from the Ministry 3) Conduct webinars.
The conference lasted about 6 hours. Finished at 22:00. Due to lack of time ე Teachers of Kutaisi Public School N17 Eka Kartvelishvili, Teona Abramishvili, Natia Egutidze, Eka Alavidze, Asmat Togonidze, Tinatin Milorava performed the Georgian song “My Georgia is here” instead of the report. Meeting with Georgian emigrant teachers from around the world. The conference was fully recorded at the request of the participants, the recording will be posted on July 1 (due to the volume of the recording needs to be processed). Giorgi Sakandelidze, Manager of Information and Communication Technologies of the 17th Public School, took care of the conference’s technical smoothness and flawless course.
