Georgian Heritage Foundation is excited to announce our very first project “The School of Georgian Heritage”, a long-standing dream of our founder Liana Nitsetskaia, who unapologetically believes that country Georgia is losing generations of children to an increased immigration for whom Georgian language is, or soon will become, a second language. These children will have difficulties speaking, reading, writing or even understanding it. The time to preserve Georgian language in our children is now, not tomorrow or when we will “have time for it” – this has to become every immigrant Georgian parent’s thought that keeps them up at night, this must become our lives’ invisible “Battle of Didgori”, because if we don’t act now, our children, and more so our grandchildren will need a translator to understand Georgian language in their own country!
This project is not a one person’s responsibility, this needs to be the Bay Area Georgian community’s project with every parent being the warrior of Georgian Language and our unique heritage.
Yesterday’s “Rtveli” (Harvest) was our beginning, we are starting to grow our tiny roots knowing, that we will only succeed if we stand together, united in love for our Saqartvelo.
Heartfelt Thank You to our team – Lika Kalandadze, Ikuli Asatiani, Lia, Natia,Madlena Shonia, to Consulate General of Georgia in San Francisco and TBS Design Gallery for all of the hard work and support making it come true.
